I want to make money online, I want to make it fast, and I want to make lots of it, now. Oh, and I don’t want to have to do anything.
WAKE UP!
Why people think that is a business model is beyond me. But I want to look a bit further into each part of this. First, “I want to make money online” ok, so does everybody else and quess what, you can. Next, “I want to make it fast”, even e-Bay takes a bit of time but it rather quick. Third, “I want to make lots of it”, hey, nothing wrong with that.
Now here’s that part that really gets me, “I don’t want to have to do anything.” Is that right? I have no problem with the first three parts of this, but the last one really gets me. Actually, I think it is rather comical, and I can always use a bit of levity to help make it through the day.
Without having to do anything… Hey, you have to throw your feet over the side of the bed to get up in the morning, the fridge doesn’t open and pour the orange juice, you have to. Even the coffee maker doesn’t make coffe without you having to turn it on or even set it the night before. Try driving to work without having to do something. Nope, can’t do it.
You see, “YOU” have to do something regardless of what that something is. Whether it’s making money online or playing a game of checkers, action is involved.
There are, however, some ways that are easier than others, notice I said easier not do nothing, which brings me to the title of this post, “Content Marketing or Affiliate Marketing.”
Content Marketing, simply put, is adding content to a blog or website. You write something people will be intereste in and post it online. If you do a good job, they will come back and send their friends.
Affiliate Marketing is selling and promoting other peoples stuff. You don’t need inventory stacked up in your garage or basement for this online business model.
If you are looking to start an online business, these are two of the better ways to go in the beginning. Actually they go quiet well together, hand-in-hand, you can’t have Affiliate Marketing without content.
Now that you have this figured out, you will need to set up a blog and you will heed a place to host it. You blog will reside no a computer somewhere. The hosting company I use is Hostgator and you can get a hosting account for about $7.95 which gives you unlimited stuff. You can check them out to see the details. The reason I use them was not just the price but their technical assistance via chat is superb, though I have had very few issues.
I recommend using Hostgator.
Now that you are using them to host your domain, in the control panel you can set up your blog, and there is no cost. I use the Wordpress platform which is just about the best around.
Once you have everything in place you will need to start writing content and lots of it. Keep writing and then write some more. After you have established a good base, then you can monitize your blog with either ads or, here we go, Affiliate products. Just do a quick search on your subject and you will find lots of opportunities. Commission Junction is the first place you should start. They host way more companies than you would imagine and set up is easy.
This should at least get you pointed in the right direction and if you “do something” you can accomplish the first three points mentioned in the beginning of this post.
So which is it? Content Market, Affiliate Marketing, or both?
