It’s Ok To Change Your View of God

big bang theoryI read today that Stephen Hawkin changed his view of God. He says that God did not create the universe and the “Big Bang” was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics.

There is one big part of this he missed. For any law to exist, there has to be an author. Someone has to write the law. Sorry, Mr. Hakin that you missed the mark but you can mark this.

There is one thing that you can count on and it is that God has never changed his view of you or me. And for this I am thankful.thankful

When I Was At The Pool

kid in swimming poolThis is a story that my friend Jon wrote and I wanted to share it with everyone. I met Jon in the late 90’s through work. We lost touch for several years but recently connected again through Facebook. I enjoy his stories and here is another that I’m sure you will too.

It was a hot Summer day sometime in July of ‘72… I went swimming at Whiteside Park in midtown Tulsa with my older brother, Steve, as I always did that year. I was at the ripe old age of eight and brimming with curiosity and a desire to want to learn about anything and everything that caught my eye. I didn’t feel like I had many friends in school but over the years and through Facebook, I would learn that my peers really WERE my friends; I was just my own worst enemy…

At the pool, my brother would flirt with the girls and try to act like “Mr. Stud”…Me? I would splash around and enjoy the cold clear water. I taught myself to swim that year, first by going underwater and then opening my eyes and moving my arms and legs around… Swimming on my back proved to be a bit of a challenge but over time I perfected that, too…

Then it happened… SHE caught my eye… She was tall, brunette, tanned and looking at me, smiling. SHE was the lifeguard. Continue reading When I Was At The Pool →

The Best Gift

56' Chevy TruckAn old friend of mine that I use to work with several years back, Jon Money, recently wrote this story and though it may sound like a story of rebuilding an old Chevy truck, it is really about building relationships, dear friends and the memories we hold dear. I think you will understand once you read this heart warming story about “Chubs” and how it came to be. Enjoy.

Back when I worked for Carlton-Bates, I befriended a Customer named “Rod”. He was this tall, lanky guy with more brains than hair on his head. He was your typical engineer-type… Not much in the people-skills department. In fact, if you didn’t know him very well, he came across as crass and arrogant but that wasn’t his intent; it was just the way he communicated. Ol’ Rod was a brainiac. He could take a bunch of automation parts and make ‘em stand up and do a dance. He was a big-time Delphi programmer and wrote his own SCADA system (“SCADA” stands for (S)upervisory (C)ontrol (A)nd (D)ata (A)cquisition.) It was such the success that he marketed it and sold it to several water and wastewater treatment plants. He could program a PLC (“PLC” stands for (P)rogrammable (L)ogic (C)ontroller) like ringing a bell. I remember getting him involved in several projects over the years. He did an excellent job every time and wasn’t slow about it, either. In fact, he’d have the program written and ready to load into the equipment before it arrived at my office for delivery to him.

Rod was pretty special… One time I was following him to a job and he stopped at an intersection, threw his van in “park” and ran back to my van and gave me a cigarette. He said “I knew you were out; thought I’d give you one right quick…” That was the same day the Federal Building was bombed and 168 innocent people lost their lives. We were 25 miles away and it felt and sounded like it was on the next block.

One day in March of 1996, I had to go by his house and drop some plans off for a project. In his driveway sat an old ‘68 Chevy Camaro. It had over 200K miles on it and he bragged that he had never changed the clutch in it. It was your typical base car with a 6-cylinder and a 3-speed for motivation. I asked him if he had ever thought of selling it and he asked “What would you give me for it?” Don’t you hate it when you’re faced with such a question in a situation like this? Of course, being the modest guy I was, I said “YOU tell me what you want for it.” He said “Five hundred dollars.” You could imagine the bruises and scrapes on my chin as it fell and bounced about 4 times on the concrete sidewalk. I said “SOLD! I’ll be back this weekend with a trailer and the money.” Continue reading The Best Gift →

Found on Facebook: Makes me feel better just thinking about chocolate cake. or ice cream or cookies or cobbler or pies or…

Do The Spamers Really Think We Are Stupid?

no spamIf you have a blog that allows comments you get spam. Much of this unwanted junk is worthless and that’s why they call it spam I supose. (Side note: did internet spam get it’s name from the stuff in a can? I do see some of the same characteristics.)

Ok, back to the reason for this post. I haven’t posted anything here in a while and when I came to check things, my spam catcher had some really dumb stuff and I thought it would be fun to share some of the stupid spam remarks. None of which are even remotely related to the post they were associated with.

Have a good laugh. These are real and I am simply doing a copy and paste.

1) I`ve get this source from my friend, I am testing it now and I`m very suprised with the results, really huge traffic and big conversion to sales. Find out how it is possible ,this Idea is amazing, just click on my name, testi it and tell your friends. It really works !

My comment: yeah right dude. Check your spell checker.

2) Just saying thanks will not just be sufficient, for the tremendous lucidity in your writing. I will right away grab your rss feed to stay abreast of any updates.

My comment: Oh really.

3) Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such great information being shared freely out there.

My comment: I think you and your neighbor are drunk.

4) Brilliant blog posting. I found your post very interesting, I think you are a brilliant writer. I added your blog to my bookmarks and will return in the future.

My comment: Thanks, I think I’m brilliant too.

5) Well, I don’t know if that’s going to work for me, but definitely worked for you! Excellent post!

My comment: What are you talking about fellow?

Where do these spammers come up with such lame comments? At least they could write something relative to my posts.

I can’t wait to see what I get related to this post. If you want, you can post your comments too. Just make ‘em real.

Overnight Success Takes a Whole Bunch of Overnights

Noah Building the ArkOvernight Sussess Takes a Whole Bunch of Overnights, Don’t Give Up!

I’m certain just about everybody has heard the saying that oh, they are an “overnight success.” There seems to be people that seem to be successful in everything they do and it often appears to happen overnight. The truth of the matter is, there is no overnight success. It takes many overnigts, lots of planning, some fertilize and cultivating before the overnight harvest comes to fruition.

This got me to thinking about a few things, one was Noah. Here he is minding he own business when out of the blue he gets these orders if you will, from God telling him to build an ark, a big boat. Noah had great success in this endeavor though it didn’t come overnight. As a matter of fact, Noah was 600 years old when the flood waters came. (Genesis 7:6 NIV) “Altogether, Noah lived 950 years, and then he died” (Genesis 9:29 NIV)

Just think how long it would take you and even a couple dozen good carpenters to build a wooden boat about 475 feet long. Maybe a few years? That’s a bunch of “overnights” I would say.

I can only imagine how many times Noah may have thought about giving up and just calling it quits. I don’t know about you, but I’m sure glad he had the perseverance and faith to keep going. Had he not, would I be typing this right now and would You be reading it sitting there at your computer?

Yes, Noah was an overnight success. He built an ark, gathered every kind of creature on earth, climbed in and shut the door. We all know it rained for 40 days and 40 nights but Noah was in the ark for 150 days and nights. (Genesis 7:24 NIV)

Then, his overnight success came in his 601st year. God’s Covenant With Noah. That my friends is success.

Let’s all be overnight successes.

No Cook Meals To Beat The Summer Heat

Summer is always way too hot to heat up the kitchen and cook. So I have come up with a few of my favorite “no cook” summer meals. See what you think and post your comments.

Stand By Me – The Song Around The World

Whenever I find something that is inspiring and moves me, I like to share it with my readers. I have always liked the song “Stand By Me” and have heard it many times by many different people. But never, have I heard it like this. The hairs on my arms and neck were standing and waving to the beat of the music. As you will see and hear in the video, there will come a time when we will all have a need to utter the words, Stand By Me.

Sanibel Island Resort and Spa

Sanibel Island Resort and Spa

What a beautiful place, Sanibel Island Resort and Spa in Ft. Myers, Florida. I had the good fortune to visit recently on a business trip and had a little time to see a few sites as well.

Sanibel Island Resort and Spa is on the Southwest coast of Florida just outside the town of Ft. Myers. The hotel is tucked away among the many variaties of palms, hibiscus and other tropical plants overlooking the Sanibel Harbour. The grounds are really beautiful and offer a nature lover plenty to do such as the nature walk.

When I first learned that I was going to have to go to Sanibel Island Resort and Spa, I wasn’t too excited since I’m not a beach type guy. But let me tell you, it was a fun trip. (except for the sitting in class most of the day)

One night there was dinner on the Sanibel Yacht and the food was to die for. I ate way too much but it sure was good.

There are several things to do if you ever visit Sanibel Island Resort and Spa and one, as the name indicates, visit the spa. Massages, several pools, you name it and it was probabbly there. If you prefer, you could simply sit at pool side and enjoy a nice evening sunset and relax with your favorite drink.

In Ft. Myers there are several sites one is the Banyon trees and the street lined palms. You can visit the summer home of Eddison and Ford, yes, they are amazing.

Another activity you must do if you visit the Sanibel Island Resort and Spa is to take the Stars and Stripes tour. It is a boat ride to see the dolphins. They will swim all around the boat and then they will follow at the rear of the boat jumping in and out of the wake. Really cool.

To me, the best part of the Sanibel Island Resort and Spa is the easy way of life, where you can just sit back, enjoy the views and relax. If you ever find yourself headed to Florida, you have to work in the Sanibel Island Resort and Spa.
